Mushroom Tagliatelle
chanterelle, basil, parmesan
Harper’s
92 Main Street
Dobbs Ferry, NY 10522
They hit it out of the park with this one. My friend Caitlin and I decided to split the mushroom tagliatelle and another entree, but boy did I end up regretting it. While both were great, I couldn’t help but dream about keeping this all for myself. The delicate pasta produced by DPNB Pasta & Provisions in Nyack immediately sets it apart. You can taste the difference in its quality and texture. Each ribbon has the perfect bite to it. The chanterelle mushrooms are fresh and the sauce perfectly compliments both ingredients. I would have licked the bowl had we not been in public. I’ve always loved their back patio and it’s the ideal backdrop for socially distant dining.

Italian Mac & Cheese
Pecorino Romano with diced onions & pancetta topped with breadcrumbs
25 North Ristorante
974 E Boston Post Rd.
Mamaroneck, NY 10534
August 6th of this year marked my first trip to 25 North. To be completely honest I’d never even heard of them until they started tagging me in photos on Instagram. From what I saw, I knew I needed to go and fast. Chef Will Vitale’s hospitality is off the charts and you would never know the tent they set up for outdoor dining hadn’t been apart of their operation from the get go. It was exceptionally large and well decorated right down to a projector for viewing your favorite films. What I really want to talk to you about though is the pasta. Ooooh the pasta. It was truly difficult to choose just one to highlight because they were all genuinely delicious. Our table of four women essentially forked each other to the death in an attempt to get the last bites, while declaring each was a dish they would not soon forget. Aside from the Italian Mac & Cheese, another standout was the “25,” a ground veal meat sauce with a dollop of fresh ricotta. They also have a mix and match selection of different pasta shapes and sauces which is more or less my love language. To be clear – you need to book a table here, like, yesterday.

Lemon Spaghetti
shrimp, lemon, breadcrumbs, chili, parmesan
The Whitlock
17 Katonah Ave
Katonah, NY 10536
(914) 232 8030
I’ve been to The Whitlock countless times, so it always surprises me a little bit when I discover a whole new dish to fall in love with. Over the summer, this lemon spaghetti was it. It has just the right amount of flavor to highlight the shrimp, without overpowering it and the breadcrumbs add the perfect amount of texture and excitement. Check out their expanded patio, providing ample outdoor dining.

Pear & Cheese Fiocchi
three cheese, pear, lemon, butter, mint
Exit 4 Food Hall
153 E Main St.
Mt. Kisco, NY 10549
Delightful little purses from heaven. I wish I could give you a more accurate description of what was happening in this dish but sometimes when I go out I find myself carried away enjoying the moment and forget completely that food is something I write about. This dish was a special so unfortunately I’m not 100% sure you can still get it but they do offer a wide variety of pastas made in house that I’m dying to get back and try myself. I have a funny feeling they would leave me with the same impression too. Outdoor seating available.

Rigatoni Pomodoro
garlic, basil, ricotta, olive oil
The Cookery
39 Chestnut Street
Dobbs Ferry, NY 10522
Yes, The Cookery serves up many inventive and delicious pastas (ie: the Pork and Clam Sausage Spaghetti or my long-time favorite the Rigatoni Bone Marrow) so I’m sure you may be wondering why I’ve selected this one. I am a firm believer that pasta does not need to be complicated in order to be delicious and this dish is a testament to that. Tomato based pasta sauces will always reign highest for me. They’re classic. This fresh summer tomato sauce paired with big rigatoni and a dollop of ricotta speaks to my soul. It’s the most simple form of love. While the other ladies at the table were drawn to so many “more exciting” dishes I immediately new this was the one for me. Give it a chance, it may be the one for you too.

Penne Russa
vodka, pancetta, and peas in a pink sauce
Rosie’s Bistro Italiano
10 Palmer Ave
Bronxville, NY 10708
I know what you’re thinking, “Penne vodka? You’ve gotta be kidding me!’ This is a staple on the menu at many restaurants but that doesn’t mean that each version is created equally. As of recent I’ve loudly declared the Spaghetti Rosa my favorite dish from Dean’s kitchen. I’ve preached its beauty and wonder to many people and I stand by it. However, last week we ordered the penne for my niece and nephew and as my cousin and I kept sticking our forks into it we developed a serious case of dish envy. Suddenly it seemed to outshine what I’d previously thought was my favorite. The flavors were so bright and spot on we barely left any for the kids. I returned only three days to order it for myself because I couldn’t stop thinking about it and it was just as good. Pictured here is a half portion because you can order it that way but I almost never do… unless I’m already getting a Chicken Parmesan too.

While I haven’t been in a while some of my other favorite pasta dishes live at Carlos Restaurant in Yonkers and Maria in New Rochelle. Read more about them here. We are blessed with an abundance of delicious options here in Westchester. Do you know a great place for pasta that I haven’t mentioned? Reach out to me on instagram @breakfastatetiffany or email me breakfastatetiffany@gmail.com and let me know!
*Additionally, I think there is a bit of misunderstanding amongst people about how blogging works. Almost all of these dishes were ordered and paid for by me on my own accord. There is nothing on this list I am talking about because someone is asking me too. While I do always appreciate an invitation to a restaurant or a token of appreciation form a chef, I would almost never request something for free specifically in this current climate. While I pass no judgments on anyone who does, I can’t help but take a moment to clear that up and encourage you not too either.
Great pictures, great pasta dishes, AND a Sophia Loren quote!? What’s not to love!
