Before I even get started on the food (which I will rave about) let’s talk about the decor. The entire space is adorable right down to the eclectic mix of serving plates. Some are brightly colored, a few have whimsical floral designs, and others feature classic art by Keith Haring. The day before I made my way to Chalk Point Kitchen I received a call telling me- no, urging me- to get there. “It’s an instagrammers dream,” I was told. Do my friends know me or what?

Rosemary and Vine recently extended an invitation to me for a private dinner to unveil their new summer menu. The first thing you should know is how sweet the owners- Berj & Tania were as well as their consulting chef Erica Wides. They were all both warm and hospitable. The owners have put work into the space since taking it over and it is truly gorgeous. The second thing you should know is that patrons continuously flowed up the small steps to the entrance only to be very obviously disappointed when faced with the sign in the window which indicated that they were closed for a private event- proving to me this spot was likely a neighborhood favorite.

New York City’s Summer Restaurant Week is upon us! I have to be honest and admit that when this event has run in the past few years I have had some disappointing experiences. Restaurants often put little effort or creativity into this menu. Choices are limited. Menus are basically aimed at people who rarely leave the house and never venture into a dining establishment. In most cases I’d rather just pay full price and sample options offered on the everyday menu. Like Lil’ Kim says, “Money ain’t a thing- throw it out like rice.” Just kidding- I’m poor. So taking that into consideration I had to give restaurant week another try this year and randomly ended up on the Upper East Side of Manhattan at Atlantic Grill. It definitely had a different and refreshing approach to restaurant week in comparison to some of the other establishments I have visited. With that being said let me just make it clear that I am in no way, shape or form claiming to be a food critic. I am simply consumer- who does a lot of consuming.
